Students might think that going abroad for exchange is like being on holiday. Trust me, it's not. A lot of work is behind all the pleasure. A lot of documents, paper work, emails, agreements etc. One of the most challenging things will probably be do finish the travel report that my home university Arcada requires. After spending around six months in South Korea and Seoul, to write this report shouldn't be a big problem for me. And since I have become a more hard working and motivated student, I promised myself that I will start next week with the writing. Just write little by little so I will get the report done in time.
1. Preparing for the exchange:
- Enough help?, Visa process, Insurance, Vaccinations required.
2. Arrival in the host country:
- Notification to the authorities, certificates required.
3. The partner university:
- Size, courses offered, teaching material, laboratories and equipment, lectures, group-work, practice, examinations, language courses, level of teaching, meals.
4. Library and computer services:
- books and magazines, CD-data bases, online connections, other collections.
5. Living:
- Location (distance to university and
services), choices, price levels, living standard, equipment.
6. Life-style:
- Local life and services available, safety, language problems, banks, customs authorities.
7. Spare time:
- Sights, clubs and other spare time activities, student associations.
8. Other observations:
- Positive and negative surprises.
9. Skills obtained abroad (other than
academic):
- Skills that can be useful in a future
job?
10. Advice to other students.
These are the guidelines for the report. Basically, it will be a story of my time here. How it started, when I arrived, where I lived, what I did and experienced and what obstacles I faces during my year in South Korea.
I get it, this is boring for you all. But this is just something, I want to save somewhere, so I guess my blog has to be the place for that. When I'm an 80 year old single grandma, I want to look back and remember my crazy days in South Korea.
