NANTA

Something new everyday. This week has been full of new experiences and attractions. One thing that is a must in South Korea is to experience a Nanta show, also called Cookin Nanta. This Nanta thing is a non-verbal comedy show that incorporate traditional samul nori rhythm. Nanta is a musical including acrobatics, magic tricks, comedy and even participation of the audience. Nanta will tell a story by cooking, which is not surprising. Most Korean TV-dramas or programs includes eating or preparing of food. Nanta has become the longest running show in the Korean history and has even been performed in 48 other countries, even in Finland.

Today I took my mother to the Myeongdongs Nanta Theatre to experience this famous show. Inside, there was many photo zones and the reception was decorated with pots, pans, you name it, everything! I didn't really know what to expect from the show, but it was a lot of fun. The audience participated a lot and they even wanted a few people from the audience on stage. Now you wonder, who they asked and yes, me. I was part of a wedding scene and I had to taste some sort of soup and act along. It was funny. When the show ended, I got my own picture as a memory from the show. Since it was forbidden to photograph during the show, the gift was perfect.
